Small groups
Church on a small scale: worship, Bible, prayer and caring for one another.
What is a small group?
Being church together is more than meeting on Sunday. In the early church people also met in homes, and so do we. In a small group of around eight to fifteen people you sing, pray, dig into the Bible and care for one another. Often a group works through the study material alongside the current sermon series, or a book. There are fifteen small groups, spread over Goes and the surrounding villages, usually every other week on a weekday evening. You are welcome in any group, even if you have only just started coming. Not sure which group suits you? Get in touch and we will help you think it through.

Israel
A group that wants to learn about what is happening in Israel. Every fortnight on Wednesday evening: worship songs, intercession for Israel and a book read together. Sometimes a Shabbat meal. Location: De Basis.
Kapelle
Wednesday evenings in odd weeks. Key words: fellowship, attention for one another, building up, encouragement, church on a small scale, singing, prayer and thanksgiving. Location: Kapelle and the surrounding villages.
Garage
Named after the place where the group once began. Because faith needs maintenance: Bible study with room for constructive discussion, helping each other develop and caring for one another. For the over-50s. Location: De Basis.
Bread and Wine
Every two weeks at one of the members’ homes, with worship and the celebration of communion at the centre. There is also room for whatever someone has on their heart. The members live close together in and around Goes-Noord. Location: Goes-Noord.
Growing in faith
The name says it: growing in faith together, through God’s love and by encouraging each other to take steps of faith. Good company, trust and hunger for God’s Word, with a prepared topic and room for what is current. Location: De Basis.
Growing in discipleship
Every Monday evening, doors open from 19:30. The group discusses a book of the Bible, currently Romans. Location: De Basis.
On the way together
A group of three couples that meets in a home setting, recently around the material alongside the sermon series. Location: various homes in Goes.

Jefta
Jefta means ‘God opens’. Opening God’s Word together, learning from it and talking about it; the group started with the Psalms. Every other Thursday evening. Everyone is welcome, also if you don’t live on Schouwen. Location: Kerkwerve.
Blossom
A group from Kapelle that shares life, experiences and doubts around current topics, and seeks God’s guidance through His Word and Spirit in order to grow, blossom and bear fruit. Every fortnight on Wednesday evening. Location: Kapelle.
A Safe Haven
Time for prayer, worship and a topic from a book or sermon series, over a cup of coffee or tea, with attention for one another. Wednesday evenings in even weeks at 20:00. Location: Wemeldinge.
Connect home
An addition to the Connect! evenings, but anyone between 20 and 35 looking for a group is welcome. Bible study in a home setting, with room for good conversations and caring for one another. Every other Wednesday evening, doors open 19:30, start 20:00. Location: Goes-Zuid.
New at Rafaël
For people of different ages who have not been coming to Rafaël for long: a good way to get to know important aspects of church life and to meet new people. The group starts when there is enough interest. Location: to be decided.
Also during the week
ADHD: Always Serving the Lord
An energetic group of young adults aged 18 to 30 with a passion for God and for people. They read the Bible together, pray with each other, share a meal every evening and organise events. The house groups are family groups. On the first Tuesday of the month there is the ADHD celebration at De Basis, with worship, prayer and testimonies.
Men’s breakfast
Every second Saturday of the month: breakfast together and chewing on substantial topics. No lament about how bad we are, but rejoicing over the changes in our lives. From 7:30 to about 9:00 at De Basis. Let the office know if you are coming.
Prayer meeting
Every Tuesday evening the intercession team meets at De Basis to pray for the church, for Goes and for the world. There is also prayer before the service on Sunday morning. Those who pray are always welcome to join.
