Children and youth
Children are the church of today too. That is why there is a crèche and children’s church every Sunday, and Rafaël Youth for teenagers.
Children’s church on Sunday
The children start together with everyone in the service, to praise God together. After about a quarter of an hour they go to their own children’s church. There they discover, in a way that suits their age, who God the Father is, who Jesus and the Holy Spirit are, and they learn to pray, to care for others and to become followers of Jesus. Often a Bible story is told, followed by a game, craft or other creative activity. There are groups for every age: a crèche for ages 0 to 2 and 2 to 4, and children’s groups for school years 1-2, 3-4-5 and 6-7-8. Around 120 children are with us on Sundays, with a team of about fifty children’s workers. We ask every worker for a certificate of conduct (VOG).
Rafaël Youth
Welcome to the youth work! Our desire for young people is that they choose Jesus, live like Jesus, share about Him with each other, grow in Him and serve like Jesus. Every other week there is a youth evening at De Basis. Key words: Fun, Food & Family. Every evening has a playful game part, teaching from the Bible and above all a safe haven where every young person knows they are loved and accepted. A few times a year there is a Youth Sunday, a Sunday service by and for young people. In summer we take a coach to the camp of Rafa Young, the youth work of Rafaël Nederland. Around 45 teenagers and 14 youth workers take part; the youth work is growing fast.
Family services
A few times a year we hold a family service: a service for all ages in which children and parents receive the same message in a creative way, so you can talk about it at home. Messy Church is another celebration for the whole family. Young parents can have their child dedicated in the service.
Connect! (ages 18 to 30)
At Connect! people in their twenties and thirties meet around important questions in life and have a good time together. On average every three weeks there is an activity: at De Basis, at the Veerse Meer or at a worship concert. Feel free to bring friends, churchgoers or not.
Children and the Lord’s Supper
Children belong, also at the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Whether your child takes part is your decision as a parent or carer. In the children’s groups the Supper is celebrated once or twice a year, with an explanation at their level. More about the Supper.
