Altogether different: The Chosen
Alongside the sermon series we are offering study material this time based on episodes of the TV series The Chosen. Each topic is paired with an episode showing a practical application of how Jesus and His followers (possibly) dealt with these topics. Using the episodes and the accompanying discussion questions you can explore further, as an individual, family or growth group, how we as Christians can be altogether different today.
Why The Chosen?
The Chosen can be a valuable tool for bringing the Bible stories to life, because it makes the historical and cultural context visible and portrays the emotions and relationships of the characters in a way you can feel. Still, the series is no substitute for the Bible: the makers fill in details and use creative imagination to dramatise the narratives. Anyone who wants to know the heart and truth of the message still depends on the Bible itself as source and standard.
Viewing evenings
Want to watch and discuss the episode with other church members? You are welcome every week at De Basis on Monday or Thursday evening. Growth groups can join too. Signing up is helpful, but not required.

Viewing tips
Read the relevant Bible passages beforehand, to discover where The Chosen has coloured the biblical story in further or differently.
Start with prayer and ask God to reveal His truth to you.
After the episode, first discuss the question: “What stood out to you?”
Use the suggested questions as a guide, but let the conversation flow naturally.
